Logic Pro 8 vs Pro Tools 8

Hi there.

I was thinking abou audio software, and between Logic and Pro Tools, which one of you with your experience on film sound editing, think that could be, not the best, but the most "right one" for the job?

Thanks

Film sound editing? The overwhelming majority of films are cut with ProTools. But depending on your budget/ needs and what you want to do in the future Logic might be a better choice. If you want to cut sound for film for a living I would go with PT since that is what you will have to know. If your a composer and are dabbling in sound editing I would say Logic. If you want to be a picture editor and happen to be doing sound for this project I would say SoundTrack pro (which comes with either the FCP or FCE bundle).

Thanks for your advice!

My objective in my future life is to work in Cinema as the following of my college course! I had that idea too, but i was just wondering what professionals inside the area for a longer time would say!

Thanks.

I agree wholeheartedly with Noiz - but wiil add to his career-oriented response, that ProTools is better for handling recorded audio, while Logic is better for generating (via MIDI synths, samples, etc) audio.

If you're handling all the audio post-production, then both platforms offer comparable functionality. However, once you start working with other post folks as a team, then Protools wins hands-down. Digidesign products are pretty much ubiquitous in audio post-production, so going the Protools route will save you a great deal of trouble if you're migrating the sessions from one setup to another.

ok!

Thanks to all of you with your advice!

Until now i was experimenting Logic Pro at home, but even at college we use Pro Tools, and it causes really a big mess when o try to pass something in the middle of the work from college to Logic and vice-versa.

Thanks
