Dear all,
I would like to ask about the Log & Transfer option in FCP when dealing with P2. How long does it take to Log & Transfer a full 64GB P2 card from the camera to the computer? Is it just a click of a button, or is it similar to ingesting a DV tape onto the computer?
Depends on how you work.If you want to name all of your clips before L&t then yes just like DV capture excpept you do not need to set in and out points. If you do not need to name your clips then it is alot faster. Just import into L&t select all clips set you import setting and go get some lunch.
It depends what you use for transfer. If you're going straight from the camera through Firewire... go get some lunch as Epeck suggests. P2 readers will be much faster.
So my point is that we're still not 'saving time' although we've gone tapeless by using p2 cards then editing on FCP. It's as if we're shooting on DV Tapes. So when we're talking about 'saving time' factor it's better to go P2 with AVID than P2 with FCP?
You do, just not as much as you would like probably. For me at least, ingesting a 16GB P2 takes around 15 minutes, so depending on the format you record in, that can be either realtime or faster.
