Log & Transfer Window - file number sequence

Something that I'm failing to resolve having searched here, there & everywhere. Hopefully someone here may be able to help.
Importing.mts files which are numbered 00001.mts & onwards on the card/camera. In the Log & Transfer window upon import, I get clip 1 then clip 10, then 11 etc up 19. Then clip 2, clip 20, 21 etc.etc. For the life of me I cannot get FCP to import the files & display them in chronologial/numerical clip sequence - ie 1,2,3,4, etc. which would help enormously as they are obviously shot & numbered chronologically at the time of taking, & remain so in the camera and in the folder(s) when downloaded to the computer.
Is this a preference I've not only failed to set up but also failed to find?
I look forward to hopefully resovling this with someone's help.
This is in FCP & GH13 files.

Nope, Final Cut simply sorts clips incorrectly. This was fixed in the Finder years ago (I recall using an extension to do the same thing back in Mac OS 8 - OS X may even have had it from the start), but it never made its way into Final Cut.

For all the raging about the possible loss of tape ingest, one of the biggest things I'm hoping they fix in Final Cut Next is... this.

Add leading zeroes to your clip names.

001, 002, 003, etc. Add as many leading zeros to your clip numbers as needed to get them to display in order.

But really unless the footage is of an event where the edit has to be in chronological order, you should be naming the clips to something more useful than a number. Depending on the project, I'll break a scene and the shots within it into some shorthand and then add a number for specific takes.
