Log and Transfer problems

This seems like a reasonably common topic but I'm having problems ingesting clips from P2 using Log and Transfer.

I get the clips into the L&T window fine, they play and scrub without a problem.
When I try to add them to the queue they instantly come up with that painful little red exclamation mark.

Clips are 720/50p, using a dual 2ghz G5 with FCS2.

I know I can just go and buy Raylight or P2Log but I'd much prefer to have FCS work the way it was intended to.

Is there something I am missing ? Does the Mac need a P2 driver ? (that may be a dumb question, I'm very new to Macs)

Any help is most appreciated.

Which solution though are you referring to? The thread mentions turning off the remove pulldown option (which has long been discovered to be an issue when bringing in 24pN shots) and then it mentions to buy and use P2 Log instead of doing it natively inside of FCP.

cheers.

I turned off the pulldown. It worked fine then. I have P2 log and usually use that to export. However, the company that was logging and transfer wanted to do so without buying p2 log. The turning off of the pulldown worked for them.

I have been having problems with the Log and Transfer in the latest FCP 6.0.1 i believe (i can't remember off the top of my head). I didn't want to start a new topic, since this one is named the same as i would have put.

I have the Panasonic HDC-SD1, which uses SD-HC cards (comes with a 4GB). Anyways, the problem i am having is with capturing... or transferring in this case. It has issues recognizing my camera. So i looked up on apple.com's support section, and the only thing i found that helped was it mentioning something about having more than one drive connected at the same time. I have 2x ext. drives hooked up, a 500GB and a 120GB. Problem is, i have the 500GB one setup to be my scratch drive, i don't want to import all of my video to my main HDD, i'm already low on space. But this is the only way Log and Transfer works... very frustrating.

So, the only way it seems it will work is if i transfer footage to my main HDD, with nothing else hooked up (ext. drive). and then i would have to startup my drives, and then transfer the footage, and then reset my scratch drive, every time i want to import footage.

You would think apple would come up with a better solution for this. I did notice that there's a settings button to set the path of where you are importing from, but this does nothing if all devices are attached.

Has anyone else run into this?

Are you using an Apple tower (Power Mac, either PPC or Intel)? If so I would then recommend buying another firewire card. Put that in there and then I believe you'll get better success running both the camera and the external drives at the same time. If you're on a laptop, I believe there are some solutions out there for that, but as I don't own one I can't really recall the specific devices (vaguely recall some thread though ages ago). Good luck.

cheers.
