Hey all,
I'm trying to import some footage I shot with the Canon HG20, a consumer HD camcorder that records AVCHD to a hard drive. I used the cinema mode (24p) at 24mbps. (and just so u know, just because its in cinema mode, it DOES NOT stretch the image to mock "cinemascope" aspect ratio. I though it might have done that, but now i believe its an FCP setting)
I hook the camera up via USB (it's only connection which kinda sucks), and transcode the footage to Apple ProRess 422 (HQ). When I open a clip in the browser, its all stretched out from 16:9 to 2.35:1. (In the Log and Transfer preview, it looks normal, which is kinda weird) I looked at the clip settings, and FCP believes that the footage should be something like 2546x1080 instead of 1920x1080. I checked all my A/V settings. Capture preset is HDV 1080i, sequence preset is Apple ProRes (HQ) 422. I'm using FCP 6 by the way.
Anyone know how to fix this? My idea was to edit it this way and manually export it as 1920x1080.
Thanks,
Joe
