Log and capture problem

WHEN i click on the log a prompt comes up saying unable to intialize video you may still log offline i check my connections to cam restarted turn cam off then back on things were fine b4
 
You may need to trash your prefs...

First, I'd try closing everything, unplugging capture device, shut down computer, plug capture device back in (while computer is off), turn computer back on, turn cam back on, start FCP, PRESS "REFRESH AV DEVICE'S" in the "view menu, see what happens.
