Locking in?

Is there a way to lock my sound to my footage? I have a party scene and of course during filming there is no noise due to the actors talking so I record the party sound afterwards and drop it in the time line so when I play it back you hear the actors and the back ground noise along with the added ocean sounds. If I remove a frame everything moves forward except the sounds which now is out of sink. Thanks

Select both and press G (group).

Also, ripple edits would move everything on the timeline along with your cut. Everything after the cut, that is.

As David says, use the G buttom to group clips together, and the U botton to separate them. You can do this for any number or assortment of events on the timeline.

Definitely get friendly with controlling your ripple edits. There are key commands to do it manually and this might be a better way to go.

Be aware that Vegas' group and ungroup feature is pretty primitive. If you group a background track with your voice and picture and then ungroup them all three will now be independent. Vegas won't keep the voice with the picture. You may have to group the voice back with the picture after you've ungrouped the whole set.

That is true if you select all of them to ungroup -- however, you can ungroup single or a few selected events from a larger group. (Select then press U)
