I am fleshing out a list and want to know........as film-makers......what are the more interesting/hard to get/always-in-demand locations out there? Already have an IMPRESSIVE list.....but I know I am missing stuff....

Off the wall stuff too.

As for hard to get, I would bet that the interior of the United States Gold Depository at Fort Knox Kentucky would be dang near top of the list!

One that I see in many scripts are jail cells. Easy enough to build if you have the budget for a studio, but for some people that is out of reach.

Not as much as you would think. I have shot in jails VERY low budget, and so did a buddy of mine. With cut backs in municipal budgets the past few years, there are quite a few older jail facilities that are not in use. If you are looking for the modern "Slash windows" and plexiglass jails, that may be a different story, but a lot of steel bar types are setting around waiting for the wrecking ball.

In your neck of the woods Doc, I would think that more movies would have used that subway system that is out there, but I can't recall seeing it that often. I know it has been used, but not compared to the one in NYC (Which is way older and all, but still).

That's good to know. They tore down an old jail nearby that would have been cool to shoot at, but I'm sure Texas has no shortage of bars.

Location, location, location...

Well, you didn't say LA, or even west of the Mississippi, so here goes- two in Manhattan:

Get to work, Doc!

I was on a project and they wanted to shoot in a Castle setting.
You would be shocked at how many Castles are around Texas, and America. There are full websites dedicated to pointing out where they are. Unfortunately, many people are constantly in contact with the great Castles to film. The best one in my area is outside of Austin, Tx, and they are a wedding venue/place for the bride to stay up to a week before her big day. They do not allow people to film under any circumstances (besides the actual wedding), and so unless it's your big day, no Castle for you.

Flinders Street Station - Melobourne, AUS.

This location has been used before, but always in an overly-australian way, with auSHITralian actors. It's far to busy for any Aussie budgeted film to lock it down for even a day.

Also on a side note, they want to tear it down and 'modernise' it, so it would be good fun to give it a whirl before it goes, ever so unlikely though.

I've always thought this would be a cool place to shoot something...
