Locations Forum Needed

Hi, I didn't know where this post should go but I was wondering if it were possible to have a forum where people can post good locations for shooting by state?

I just went location scouting for my MonsterFest entry and I found a couple of places I don't need to use for my movie but would be good info to know for other filmmakers in the area. I also own a two family and have wanted to allow filming use of one of my units for indie filmmakers. Just seem like it would be a useful forum to have on here like the one for jobs, etc.

I find that local film commissions aren't always that helpful when it comes to locations. They'll usually just refer you to a location scout that will charge you to find what you want.

I think a forum like that is a great idea, however in my experience, most filmmakers do not want to share location information.

Many locations are often acquired through luck. They happened to say yes, will they say yes again after realizing how it disturbed their business? I tried going back to a location once for something different and they declined it because the last time seemed to disturb their business more than it was worth.
 
Another place to look if your film commission is worthless (which is a possibility) is the city you are working with. It sounds broad, but look to see what local films came through and which names at the city appear regularly.

Those are the people you want to be in touch with. Often, they will open the doors of the city to you.

I just think a forum would be far too broad. And to publish information on locations (contacts and stuff) would require permission from those people. I think with locations, people are basically on their own. It what separates the crowd.
