I am primarily a still photographer - but am in premlinary stages of developing a historical documentary film with my own very limited finances - and would like to get feedback on setting up an LLC in New York State. For reasons described above, I would like to do this the most economical way possible - with the understanding that the cheapest way might not always be the best way. I've looked cursorily at Legalzoom and reviewed some forums about these types of orgs. Additionally, one question that comes up is whether to pay for another to be the "agent" for the LLC. I would appreciate any feedback from those who have set up their LLC in New York.
