Livetype to FCP

A while back someone told me that I could send my LT project straight to FCP and render it out over there. The instructions was to click the little LT logo (T icon) right above timeline and while holding down your mouse button on this logo to press the Apple + Tab button and select FCP then drop your LT project in a FCP bin. Well I can get all the way to FCP with no problems but my LT project is not coming over. I think I am leaving something out of those steps. Anyone know what I am not doing?

Well that sounds like some rad shortcut that I've not heard of. Which also then sounds like a good BenB question.

A work around though is if you save your Live Type file, as the LT file, not a rendered out quicktime movie, you can import the LT file like you would any other file, and slap that down into your timeline. Then with LT and FCP open at the same time you can adjust stuff in LT and get immediate changes in FCP.

cheers.

You are kind of both right. You can click on the little icon and apple-tab across to FCP and drop it on the timeline. But first you have to save your Livetype project just before you swap to FCP. Click on the icon and you should see a transparent version on your mouse pointer which will stay on it as you apple-tab across. You can then drop it on the timeline and render it there. Also if you go back to Livetype to make changes you will need to save it again for the file to update in FCP (you may need to relink the file). Hope this helps.

Old short cut from the orignial version, not sure it actually exists today as it had bugs. Just save you LT project, and do a regular import into FCP.

Point is, FCP will render your LT project faster than LT will.
