LiveType - HuH?

I just started using Livetype for credits and other scrolling text. The question is "Why does livetype take so long to render and preview?". I thought the dual G5 could handle things like this with no problem. Any ideas? Please let me know. Thank you for your time.

It's going frame by frame...?? I don't know. I thought there was a way you can import the LT project file directly into FCP HD without rendering... give it a try.

Re: LiveType - HuH?

I have never heard of being able to do that, but if you find it to be true please let me know! It does take forever to render! I have started more or less skipping the play render. I will put some effects down and then (because I have used them before, so I have a pretty good idea about what it will look like) just try to view certain parts I am not sure about. Then I will render to a movie and view the entire thing that way. It seems to save time.

Re: LiveType - HuH?

Don't render in Livetype, just save the Livetype project and then drag it into you FCP bin as if it is a clip.
You can edit it into your sequence, and if you need to change anything, just CONTROL-click the clip, select "open in Editor" and FCP will automatically open Livetype and allow you to edit, resave, and then automatically relink.

Make sure you have updated to v4.5HD.

Re: LiveType - HuH?

you must have your settings set wrong. I have used Livetype for the last 5 projects that I have done and it is pretty quick for me. I have a 1.8 G5.

Re: LiveType - HuH?

I will add that if you are working on a long title sequence you might want to slide the outpoint marker back to the end of the current section. Let that render, then repeat the process to your done. This way it will only render that section instead of rendering the whole entire thing everytime which is time consuming.

Re: LiveType - HuH?

Thanks for the suggestions Dashwood and DVXShooter.

MDFilms - I'm assuming those titles on your website are from LiveType. They look super!

Hey, LiveType is doing a lot of stuff under the hood integrating graphics engine, text engine, motion, shadowing, video, all at once. This is not a cross dissolve! Like mentioned above - frame by frame.

DVXShooter, what do you mean by settings making the process faster or slower? Which settings would do that?

Re: LiveType - HuH?

Thanks for you comment Magic. Did you check out any of random movies I had up there or did you just see the .jpg files?

Re: LiveType - HuH?

magic,

I read your question wrong with my first response about the settings. I followed up with the very next post about sliding the inpoint and outpoint markers back or forward so you only working on a certain section of the timeline and let that render then move on to the next section. Otherwise for every edit you make its going to go back to the very begining and render which is time consuming.
