Live Multicam Streaming

I've used my FS700 with the ATEM Mini and a variety of other cameras.
As was mentioned, just choose one camera to be the 'master' camera.
Premix the audio and feed it into that camera. Send the signal from that
camera (audio and video) into the ATEM Mini via HDMI. Turn off the
'audio follows video' and the audio from the other cameras. You'll be just fine.
What did you film then? I've found the FS700 has horrible latency even when using a monitor. So much so that looking at the monitor is almost impossible when filming music stuff as everything on the monitor is way behind the beat. Super annoying... I was just assuming that latency would transfer into a live multicam as well...

I won't be using the ATEM Mini as it's impossible to get hold of at the moment, will be using ATEM Television HD...

I wasn't filming music stuff, I was doing live high school basketball. And I wasn't looking at a monitor...well I was
but not a monitor that was connected to the FS700 but instead a monitor that was connected to the HDMI out on
the ATEM Mini. The HDMI in from all the cameras went to inputs 1-4 on the ATEM and the HDMI out of the ATEM
Mini to a 'preview' monitor. The cameras 'seemed' to be in synch but it's much harder to tell for certain in a
fast moving sport than doing music stuff I guess, so I can't say for sure.

I read about that. But I think the ATEM Television HD has an audio delay function. And if not I'll take the audio via the FX9's audio inputs...

Biggest unknown to me is how image delay differs between HDMI cameras and SDI cameras. Or just between different camera models in general...

I recently did a two camera stream with the Mini using two Panasonic PX270s. One was close to the mini over HDMI and the other was 50 ft. away using SDI which was converted to HDMI with a Blackmagic $45 SDI to HDMI converter. Sync was great and I had a live mic on the front camera as well. The Mini is a great tool as long as you know its limitations and work with its positives.

50 foot of BNC shouldn't present any latency regardless of source. SDI to HDMI converters can add a little but it is fractional. Would be interesting to test all of these things to know exactly. Lips start to look off at 2 frames.

Different flavors of output can make the difference as well. On Crank Yankers we supply 24" monitors (actually consumer TV's with SDI to HDMI adaptors on them) for the puppeteers to work from. They are VERY sensitive to latency as it affects their performances. Originally I had the Varicam set at 23.98psf using the viewfinder output, which has the least latency, and was converting the psf to 23.98p, but that processing turned out to add enough latency for them to raise the concern (it was still relatively low, probably between 1 and 2 frames, but enough for them to see it). We switched over to 59.94i and that turned out to be perfect. I may look at 60p as an option for upcoming season (whenever it happens) but I have to check it through the pipeline as early tests showed a few components choking on the signal.

Thanks for clarification!
Yes, probably harder to tell in sports. With music and musicians watching it can be quite jarring if things are off!

I'm quite sensitive to lips being out of sync. Many friends in Germany not so much as they are so used to watching dubbed stuff so they are used to lips not really being in sync to what's being said anyway ;)
