I am investigating ways to "live-edit". I want to make a database filled with video images and during a performance adjust the images (only in and out points) and edit the video live. I'm aware that programs like Resolume and Arkaos GrandVJ exist, but I want the program to allow me to make my own folder-infrastructure (like in the browser in Final Cut) and be able to preview and adjust video files before adding them to my output signal.
Actually Final Cut pro would be the perfect program, but there is one problem: The video in the canvas stops whenever you click on anything in the bin.
NOW! My question is whether there is a way to let the canvas continue playing while I'm searching for a new clip, AND after having found my new clip, being able to add it to the timeline without hereby stopping the video in the canvas. If this turns out to be impossible, would any of you have an idea of another program that would allow such advanced ways of live-editing?
I hope that my question is clear enough. Thanks for sticking with me so far already!
