Little Schooling?

Have you picked up a still camera yet? If not start shooting photos as often as possible, until your eye begins to see how lighting affects the world around you. When you understand why something works the way it does, it becomes easier to manipulate it.

Buy some books on lighting (Which you can find in the stickies) as well as practice lighting as much as possible whether it is with pro gear or lamps sitting around the house. just do it.

Practice practice practice, and study, so you know why your doing what your doing, and why you are getting the results you are getting. Mastering the control of light takes years, and it's something that is very rewarding, but can be highly difficult.

Take notes from your favorite films, and try to disect the lighting of certain scenes, figuring out how you think it was lit, with what lights, gels, everything. If your brave, even try to replicate these setups and compare/contrast your results.

Keep at it, and happy shooting.
