LitePanels MiniPlus

I am shooting a doc in the amazon and will only be taking one light - a camera mounted one. (Will most likely be shooting with canon xh- A1, but haven't bought camera yet). I am thinking of going with Litepanels MiniPlus - wanted to see if anyone had experience with these lights and what did they think? (Also open to other suggestions...)

thanks,

Sharky

No experience with the Litepanels, but just got my vidled and love it. And Marius is awesome on the service end. Only problem I had with litepanels was the cost.

Why just one light? Because you don't want to carry an extra... or because of cost? If you'll ever be in a situation down there where you have ANY control of the shoot you'll be glad to have another source.

I guess docs don't really demand that though...

Because I won't have an ac source, it's all on battery power and I'm trying to keep this as simple as possible. Also. I'm planning on shooting most of this with natural lighting, the one light is for those times where I just need a little extra for fill or key...

In the same situation. International work in the past with natural light (which can achieve good results, too much gear has been the issue) and I am moving to the A1 on the next project and will pick up some lighting. Looking at both the Vidled and Litepanel. Hard call and of course money is an issue. The litepanel just increased output by 25 percent - price is the same. Someone was trying to get together a LED shootout on the forum.

There is also this company coming out with the "brick" in the future: http://www.elementlabs.com/?page_id=337

My two cents...
I am leaning towards the vidled. Price is the driving factor for me. I would rather get two vidled instead of one litepanel (actually I could get three). They also seem a little smaller in size which will make a difference when everything, yes I do mean everything, is about packing and hauling.

I just got my Vidled (dayled Deluxe) 2 days ago and I just can say how great it is. Smaller than expected, more punch than expected, a feel of robustness and craftmanship. As far as I am concern its ther perfect travel companion. It can be carry in your pocket, it is delivered with a very smart plastic case and a stack of gels also in a small plastic case. The Deluxe also come with a small, light and fast chargeur.
Really great product.

Thanks guys, I'm leaning toward the Vidled myself. What do you guys think about the coolLed 40 (8000 K). I'm thinking I want the option of throwing as much light as possible, just worried about how well this color telp will properly balance in daylight.

thanks,
Keith

I read somewhere (find the post about vidled in this thread with video samples) that they said you will get a little more light with the coolLed gelled. I think I will stick with the dayled.
