Lite panels?

I'd like to buy a good on-camera light (that can also be used well off-camera) and have been trying to research Litepanels b ut I'm getting a suprising small amount of info.

So if anyone can help me out with their experience with litepanels (pros and cons) and also which of the 10 different kits to get. I'd really appreciate it.

THANKS!

The lite panels are terrific, but if you're shooting handheld, with the panel mounted to the camera's hot shoe, it'll make the camera a good deal more front heavy (assuming you're using the HVX) than it already is, making it difficult to shoot for long periods.

As for which kit, I'd recommend the one light package.

I have both 2 LitePanels and 2 recently purchased VidLEDs.

The VidLEDs are smaller, brighter, (I got the 8000k ones), lighter weight, more durable and cheaper.

Anyone want my Litepanels?

You can take the battery off the Litepanel and by using an extension cable put the battery in your pocket, vest or fanny pack. That way you are only adding 9.6 oz. or .36 kg.

Why buy when you can rent and test. Litepanels are available all over the world to rent. There must be a good reason for that. I suggest you look at LP's website, click the agent locator bar on the top right of main page, and find a dealer near you. Or even go see them in person at the dealers site. Nothing better than seeing the light. As a professional, you will know right away if the lite is right for you.
