Listen to us Sony!

Hey guys,
It seems that we are in a great position to have the marketing people at Sony listen to us for comments and changes on Sony Vegas Pro. Without being negative and destructive. Let's tell them what we need in Sony Vegas Pro:

For the next several weeks lets compile a list and then send it over to Sony!

1. A tool that allows collaboration with FCP and AVID users
2. DVC Pro that integrates into the timeline

I think this is a good idea but I have to get my hands on Pro 9 first.

Feature-wise a much better titler [read "3D and motion graphics"] would be nice for me.

8. A tool that allows collaboration with FCP and AVID users

If such a tool exists in Vegas Pro 9, then a great marketing opportunity was wasted, or maybe this will leak out in a few days to revive the excitement, since the PRO 9 buzz is falling off dramatically..

MHO..

You can make suggestions over at the Sony Creative Media site. The chances of anyone from Sony reading this board/thread are very small, and taking it seriously probably even smaller. :)

I agree.. lets do it... final cut started by giving away their software to unsuspecting students, just like drug dealers did it to the unsuspecting students...:Drogar-Happy(DBG):

lol...are you guys kidding? sony wont listen. fcp and avid compatibility? they obviously dont wanna support panny cameras. why would they wanna support other editors? i hope they fixed windows stability issues in version 9. i hope they adapted the architecture to take advantage of 8+ core machines. i hope they expanded the dynamic ram cache. the most worthwhile upgrade would be a mac os version.

First, you get people like Barry Green, Phillip Bloom, and these other well known indie guys on board and Sony MIGHT just take us seriously. But then, I doubt that these guys would want to whine on our behalf. My two pennies.

Back when Sonic Foundry ran things (the good 'ol days), they would call YOU and ask how the software is working, and if you had any requests or suggestions.

Sony doesn't care. To them Vegas is just a cheapo kiddy editor they can give away to people who buy their cameras. I really hope someone takes it off their hands.

I still think the original idea of coming up with a wish-list of features “Without being negative and destructive” is a great idea.

Maybe we need a b!tch and moan thread too......:violin:

I want to keep this very professional ! I will contact some Power Users this week to get some input. The guys who are laughing at us will be the ones that see the Change.

To plagiarize someone " YES WE CAN"

I've worked for a Japanese company before. You find the Right people in their organizations that want to move up and believe in the value of Sony Vegas Pro and we work with them. This will take time. In the near term, continue to buy use and push Sony Vegas Pro. I will also contact my people that I know in Madison. Anybody up for a face to face meeting with the Madison boys with me?

We can Rule the Production world with Vegas, or close to it.

You get what you confess. I'll get Tony Robbins to start Using Sony Vegas Pro....:)

Barry Green
Philip Bloom- big time FCP user, but a great contact- He's into marketing now....

I hate to be a wet blanket, because I do wish you luck on this. These are changes I'd love to see . . . but Barry and I fought this fight for a long time, talking to "the right" people. It came to nothing. We gave up. They simply aren't interested.

Spot doesn't care about P2/DVCPRO HD support (and he's always said Raylight is enough, anyway), and probably doesn't care all that much about integration with other apps (though if he wants to correct me on that, I'd be more than happy to be corrected). Can't speak to the others.

Is no DVCPRO support a Sony decision or a Panny decision? I ask because I don't know but it seems like a reasonable question.

Im up for this idea..Its time for sony to pull up their socks and bring real competition to these other NLEs!Hope it works

64 bit? Geez.... Especially after THEY announced it...

How about this... Lets bug Panasonic and friends to come out with their own editor! I mean, why not? They did at one time have linear editing machines, why couldn't they get something rolling?
