I am wondering what is a good liquid to burn that creates a good flame that isnt hazardous to someones health....the fumes that is. I dont want my talent falling over in some crazy seizure.
Alcohol will burn clean if it's not denatured.
I feel the need to add that setting fire to a flammable liquid can be very dangerous. A little spill and you have an out of control situation that is hard to fix. Make sure you have some good CO2 fire extinguishers on hand. Dry chemical will also work but it can destroy your equipment.
most any alcohol you burn is going to be nearly invisible unless you add something and then it's going to smoke. Whatever you burn you are going to have to worry about ventilation (unless you are out in the wide open) even if it's clean burning it's going to suck up the Oxygen if you are doing much of a burn at all.
What's the scene? Tell us a little bit about what's going on and it might trigger some ideas.
agreed, it would be good to know about the scene, but if you pick up some parafin oil for candles or something similar for wicked candles or torches (not the insect repellent torches..) it burns pretty clean and can come pretty clear if you need it. of course its never really good to inhale any sort of fumes but just be careful with that fire
I recently filmed a skate video that needed the lip of an indoor ramp set on fire
Lighter fluid was our chemical of choice - the fumes weren't particularly nasty and the fluid burns out reasonably quick witha bright yellowish-orange flame
