Such as Match Moving, Roto'ng, Compositing, etc...

I forgot what the term or technique for when you shoot something and expecting to add objects or redesign the image. Such as shooting a road or a street and then adding new virtual (realistic) objects over it. I was planning on shooting a grand view of a night city from a hill and then add vfx over it to make it seem the future.

I would like to know these terms so that when I go and seek exactly what I'm looking for I don't want to be taken advantage of. I'm looking to pay for it too, so I'm expecting a specialist particularly for this type of vfx overlaying and not some VFX guy claiming to know every technique. Thanks

I don't really know of a site, but I can recommend a book, "The VES Handbook of Visual Effects: Industry Standard VFX Practices and Procedures" (Amazon sells it). I wasn't that happy with it since it's aimed at more producers than actual artists, but for a producer I think it's a great, detailed, lengthy guide to visual effects. But it is very long and detailed might be over kill.

As for what you want to do it is usually called digital matte painting and/or digital set replacement. You might want to look at the forums at http://mattepainting.org/ for some artists/examples/etc. There are some books on the subject as well, but more for people actually doing that kind of work.

thanks, Matt

Truly appreciate the response. I will check out both sources. That's exactly what I needed to know.
