Lining UP Brevis 35 - HPX170

I got my Brevis 35 yesterday and I spent about 5 hours last night trying to lining up the adapter. It was completely out of whack when I put it on. I moved the achromat and flip rings back and forth for hours. I finally got it to line up perfectly and when I attached it to the rails, it went out of whack again. It seems like the only way to make this thing perfectly line up is to mildly tilt the achromat and lock it down. That doesn't seem right though. I'm guessing it should be flush with the rings.

Am I doing something wrong? Am I expecting this thing to line up too perfectly?
