might be a stupid question but....

how do you disable the attached mic so the cam accepts line in from the xlr jack only?

Look under the LCD screen and switch both Channel select switches to Input 2 and then switch Input 2 to line in by the switch just under the front of the lens. Plug your XLR into Input 2 and you're set.
