Limiting Clips by file size

Does anybody know if in Adobe Premiere Pro there is a way to when capturing set a cap on how big the clips can be?

Assuming that you are capturing from tape, just set an in and out TC point that represents the maximum file size that you want. When you hit the preset point, you can begin a new capture, with a new file name. If you are a little more adventurous, you can set up a batch capture with multiple in and out points.

would I have to do this throughout the whole tape ? I know in FCP the option is available to set a time limit and/or size limit. I have a lot of 10gb Avi's

Normally, this shouldn't happen unless you have one long, continuous take.

Are you using the scene detect option when capturing?

Unless the marker function would trigger a scene detect event (haven't tried, so I am uncertain) you will need to use either of the in/out point methods that I described previously.
