limiter in or out

on the wend x3 mixer you have an option of going to limiter in or limiter out . What is the difference, I have couple of ideas but not sure. Thanks

the limitter kicks about 8db over the 0dbu as factory setting , soft enganged limmiters , if you work with unpredicted sound sources keep them on not to distort the camera inputs /mixer outs ( the limmiter is on the miser main bus not on it inputs) so make sure you dont distort the preamps
