Ligting a tabletop demonstration

Hi All,

I'm new to a lot of this so please be patient with me... reading the searching the forums can get a little overwhelming at times. :)

My office is starting to supplement our written documentation, of building computing systems, with embedded video in addition to a few other uses around the office. Therefore, we're continuing to add to the arsenal of tools to get the jobs done; part of which is lighting.

What products would you recommend to adequately light a desktop demonstration of working with the internals of a computer system? It seems the overhead fluorescent lighting doesn't provide enough to get the details when shooting down into a case. Overhead shadows from hands and the person working on the machine are also slightly annoying.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Marc

I would say a large Chimera Softbox or Chinese Ball or Chinese lantern it may be called. You might need a Boom stand for the softbox to be mounted so its facing downward.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to look at some of the kits over at B&H since they seem to come with stands and bulbs as well.
