Lightweight tripod

I already got the bogen 503/525 tripod, but it is quit heavy to bring outback. I need something light, but good for the outback. Any suggestion for a lightweight model.

Carbon Fiber legs but they're expensive. Search for "carbon fiber" at bhphotovideo.com or evsonline.com. Everybody makes a few models.

Re: Lightweight tripod

I've got 3 sets of bogen carbon fiber legs here, model 444? They really reduce some weight, but they also feel kinda iffy sometimes too. I don't get the height that I'd really like out of them either, I always have to use the center extention, and that can really transmit a lot of vibration to the camera.

Well, you forgot to carry along the 20 lbs of sandbags to stabilize your lightweight tripod. :D

Re: Lightweight tripod

Yeah, extra weight helps with the stability, but not the height issue. The carbon fiber center extention has too much "give" in it for my tastes (although obviously I'd prefer to use no center extention either way).

On a side note: Who stole my coffee?
