Lightweight Tripod Head for Canon C300

Why would it need to NOT have a QR plate? That's a weird request. I searched for the same head (minus NOT having a QR plate) recently for a documentary I shot in South America a few months ago. You would be well served by the Miller AIR. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1220912-REG/miller_1042_air_fluid_head.html The Gitzo you linked to is a still photo tripod that would be terrible for video. You need a video fluid head and for the weight of the camera, you need at least a 75mm ball mount tripod or preferably a 100mm, not a cheap flat base setup. The Miller AIR has dual counterbalance options up to 11lbs, is a true fluid head made by Miller, an excellent Australian maker and only weighs a little over 3lbs for your luggage. You can buy it with aluminum alloy legs for under $1k or with carbon fibre legs at a pound less for about $1,200.00. I have both sets of legs, they are great, no spreader needed, decent height and weight and not very expensive.

Here is a good review from our own Slavik B (he's on DVXUser) on the Miller Air Carbon setup that they use with their C300 MKII. It's the best choice for an affordable, quality travel tripod head for any camera under about 10lbs. http://www.geardads.com/miller-tripod/
