Hello Guys & Gals, I am trying to fix my Lightscribe on my Bluray player. Recently I had to re-install my Windows 7 and I reloaded the latest LSS (Lightscribe system Software) 1.18.27.10 and the PLDS Smartpack v1.22.0, Even though I did all that my Lightscribe is not working. I ask here because HP who made it no longer supports it. And there is nowhere to actually get help. I loaded all the neccessary tools but still the software does not recognize the lightscribe drive. It is a Lite-on iHBS212 Bluray drive. I contacted Lite-on support and they said it is HP's responsibility. Does anyone here know anything about how to get it to work? I hope so I just purchased a whole new stack of lightscribe cd's.. If I can't get it to work I wasted my money.

Thanks, Dave

HP who made what? The computer?

If it's a Lite-on drive it should be Lite-on's responsibility since it is their software and hardware. You could try NOT telling them that the drive was from an HP computer, say you bought the drive off newegg for a custom built rig. They might have used a different model number for the HP included drive, though - you could always try researching that and finding the actual or equivalent OEM number for the drive you have. I would push on Lite-on's side.

Anyway, as far as solving on your own, first thing that comes to mind is to make sure your Lite-on Drive FIRMWARE is updated. Flash the firmware. The software you installed is probably set to recognize the drive via the latest firmware and if yours is outdated it might cause an issue. Beyond that and googling the issue to see if anyone else had the issue, you may be out of luck. Very few people use Lightscribe... even fewer who use Lightscribe probably bought an HP computer to do so... even fewer probably using it to burn Blu Ray discs... even fewer doing this anytime recently... sorry and good luck!

Sorry I can't help, but I bought an internal LG lightscribe Blu Ray burner for my 2009
Mac Pro and it works still works fine. So there ARE people out there using them.
