Lighting setups for solid colour backgrounds

Hi All,

I shoot alot of corporate video work and I've seen a few examples of setups where the background is a solid colour ( Back or White ) or a gradient . The pics below should show what I mean. I have a 3 point lighting system,. I wondering what else I will need to get to achieve similar results.

Thanks in advance

Black is usually done with Duvetine, a black sack cloth that is fireproofed. White is most typically done with white seamless paper, available from any photo supplier.

The gradient can be done in any of several ways, I have even seen gray gradient paper now at Film Tools. Or you have have some gray seamless paper and just do the gradient with lighting as shown in your still.

I think this is a fine choice. Since your doing corporate work and can afford it, I say go for it.
I would also consider getting a couple more lights...,perhaps like a couple of Arri or Mole 650's w/scrims and perhaps a 150 or 300 Arri/mole for hair,edge or fill/eyelight.
The additional lights wil help you with the background (see photo example 3) so you can use your other lights for key, and hair.
Later on, and as you and your company wants to "Mix it up", add a cuculoris or "cookie" to shoot light thru to make patterns on the bacground, rather than just a pool or slash of light.
Good luck....
