Heya...
I'm about to do a music video which will be shot in some interior industrial halls. There's about 0 available daylight to work with, so I'll have to light it old style.
So far what I've told the production is that I've would likely initially need four 1.6k HMI lamps. I figured I'd do some hard side lighting on both the background and the artists ( 2 of them ). I also have my own 800w open face I could bring...
Maybe hard left lighting on faces, softening with styrofoam from front right and a slight kick from the back right far away. The background will occasionally be filled with explosions but I figure to give the walls and columns some shape I would light them from the left as well, letting the light skim them.
During some walking shots down some narrow halls, we would either be working with only the colored flares they are holding in their hands, but not being sure how well this will hold up, I suggested that we might bring a Divalite 200 (or 400??) along, color it to match one of the flares and have a couple of guys carrying it in front of me as I steadicam the two artists walking towards me. Could I substitute the Diva with something else? Maybe something more mobile...?
Any suggestions are welcome. I'm sorry I can't offer photos of the location yet. But if you imagine an old brewery build of bricks and with a couple of big columns in the center of the room...
Ceiling height is roughly 10 meters.
The majority of the video will be shot in wide angle. I imagine most of the time 18mm and for the main hall shots all the way down to 12mm.
Gear facts:
FS100 (2nd cam, if needed, is a 5D with 24-70 and 70-200)
Kit lens 18-200
16mm and wideangle adapter
Steadicam Pilot
Shooting 50fps due to slowdown effect. They also want to keep a pretty big DOF, so shooting wide open is not an option.
Thank you very much for reading.
