lighting plan

I am shooting a 60 second commercial for a gym that is basically going to be dudes with their shirts off talking (one at a time medium shot most likely) with a white background behind them.

I was thinking about using 2 750watt open faced lights and shooting them through 6'x 4' silks to light the background. For talent I wanted to key them with another 750w open faced from the side to bring out muscle definition, then I would put a 300w Arri fernel behind as a back light and then if needed a 1k softbox set far back to act as a fill light.

Do you think this setup would work well?

p.s it is in black and white if that changes anything

What camera are you working with? And what's the size of the background / distance from your subject.

Sounds like 3 point lighting to me....I'm sure it'll work fine.

The only thing I question is shooting your 750's through the 6x4 silk. What do you gain from shooting it through such a large and diffuse material? I know you want to evenly light the background, but you're going to lose so much intensity going through the silk, and I'm afraid to ask what the 6x4 silks are made of. It sounds a little unruly.

Do you not have any 4x4 frames available to you? Or even 2x3 frames of something like 250, or 251?

EDP we are shooting with an HVX200a on 720p. Ryan my thought with the silks was to even the light out on the background. Do you think a 750w open faced would be able to produce 0 hot spots un diffused?
