Lighting indoor parking garage

Guys I need help with lighting an indoor parking garage or better put "not lighting" a garage. What im trying to do is get a dark look with the flourecent bulbs flickering. Im thinking to light the place up then darken it in post but i dont know what to do for the flickering part. Thanks

there's probably many ways you could do this. I'm very far from a professional here, but this is what I might do.
Shoot at night, when the lights are on in the garage, unless it's enclosed and the lights are on during the day. Bring along something like one of those home depot worklights and use that are a rim light. stop down the exposure, but not so far that you lose detail in the shadows. Then, in post, darken the image using something like levels or curves, but try and keep the rim light nice and high, and then keyframe the shot bright and then back to dark really quickly. Then copy those keys throughout the shot at random to create a flickering look.
I'm sure someone could come up with a better idea than that, but that's probably what I would do.

You should try the flickering in post before you commit to it. My gut tells me that it will just come off as your video flickering and not the lights, as there are many reactions with practicals and their surrounding environment in this situation.

you might get the flicker you want just by playing with the shutter speed, at work i have to turn off the florescent lights and use real lights because the flicker is so bad in some rooms.

Yes but what kind of flickering do you want? Regular interval or random -- like you see in so many horror movies or mysteries. If you're talking about the random kind like some light bulbs that are malfunctioning thats a bit different and a little harder to do.

I'm looking for the random light flicker. Like a non working flourecent bulb.
In post i was thinking bout doing it in AE. I would make the footage 3d and add a light and keyframe that badboy. Im gonna give it a test.
