lighting in a dark lecture room

hello guys,

This friday I am shooting some very important shots for my short film. It will contain a lecturer in a lecture theatre. I prepared some animations that I want to project on top of him with the projector. He will explain some things, and the visuals support his story. To make it look edgy he is standing in the light of the projector. But most of the animation is dark (with white lines) so I think our actor will be too dark!

What would be the best way to light him? I am afraid that the projections behind him will be washed out if I put a light on his face.

I'm thinking of renting some stuff here:

would the Kino Flo next to him the most practical?
What would be a good way to light him without the projections being washed out?
Thank you very much for your advice, I don't know too much yet about lighting..

(I got the 7D btw, which will do a pretty good job in low-light hopefully)
