I have a project that involves close up shops of gamblers moves with playing cards.
Table will be covered in black and the actor will have long black sleeves.
Does anyone have any suggestions for lighting this?
 
I haven't seen the movie unfortunately. I suppose if it's instructional you'll want to see quite a bit and have it not too moody? I would maybe try hanging a softbox overhead and trim that with some black cloth like duvetyne. Maybe some carefully placed nets or shoot it through a cookie just to break up the light a bit if it starts looking too stark. Where is the camera going to be placed?
