Lighting for "The Office" US version

[MikeC10305]

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone knew what type of lighting set they use when filming the office. Type of lights? Different Set ups? that sort of thing.

Thanks in advance.

Thats a good question. For how big the office is and wide shots showing the closed cielings, it is probably all from powerfull fluorescents in the regular cieling office lights.

More likely big 'ol softboxes rigged on a grid above the fluorescent diffusers with instruments down on the stage floor where and as needed.

There is a great BTS episode which helps explain the office lighting from second unit.tv

Hahahaha, you beat me! I had this window up for a while before I submitted the post!

I watched both those BTS vids that were linked from Second Unit - overall pretty informative. I never really realized how large The Office set actually is. But yeah, relatively simple lighting for the interior.

I'm more interested in the DP's "Pootie-Scootie" dolly thing.

Really cool BTS clips from the office! curious why the other ones on the site don't seem to work for me... just get a QT logo with a question mark over it.... :S
