Lighting for Kitchens

i have no idea how to fully script this. in my mind, it'll be semi-scripted because some of the things which the chefs say will be as they do the demo and some of what they say will be required.

is the food network scripted? hardly! some of it is rehearsed, but most of it (including camera positions) is made up.

Not to jump on you to hard, but Food Network and most cooking shows are meticulously scripted. They have an extensive department of "culinary producers" who's main task is to script the movement of recipes.

You have lots of wonderful advice here.

When it comes to scripting beforehand you will save yourself lots of trouble and more than likely your talent will be appreciative by having done so. If you are unsure about how to or what to write the script for your format, perhaps watch several dozen Food Network shows specifically focusing on there routines for handling foods from start to finish. This should at least give you some ideas to at least have a partial scripting.. which is better than none at all. This too will enhance your creativity too... we can never have enough creativity.... have fun with this and enjoy the process

Keep up the good work, your enthusiasm and desire will keep you on the right path...

Additionally one of the first things you made comment too is that you want to keep your shots to a m inimum.... in my opinion this is a mistake... it is the different angles and shots that will keep your dvd entertaining etc....

remember dont be afraid to make mistakes... read a few books on angled shots.. and i think in no time you will fast on your path to delivering a great script etc.. one thats going to be fun to edit.
