Lighting for a specific F-stop.....

can anyone tell me how you go about this? Is the set f-stop the key light or what?

Also, can someone briefly explain to me what Key + Fill = Fill alone meant? I remember this from a class but seem to have forgotten.

Thanks!

If you're shooting film then I suggest buying a good lightmeter.
For video just use a good monitor and your zebra setting on the camera

The key is the main light that you set on the side the subject is facing the fill is used to 'fill' in the other side. that's a basic discription. Look it up in your book from class.
good luck

Well, you use a light meter and you rough in your lighting such that the proper to-camera reading is 5.6. You'd fine-tune exposure based on your waveform monitor, but you use the light meter as a guide in where to place your lights and how strong those lights are.
