Lighting case

Hi,

I need some advice from people on here what a good light case would be for my lights.

2 DP Lowel lights
1 Omni Lowel
2 Vip Lowel
1 Tota
2 Photoflex softboxes

2 13ft stands
2 8ft stands

I'm looking to get a stand for each light which means I need 4 more stands. Plus, the case needs to have room for accessories, gels, gel frames, snoot, etc. I was looking at the Kata OC-97 but its super pricey and it won't hold everything. Maybe two smaller cases?

Can anyone out there recommend a good light case that is adequate quality yet not too expensive? Thanks

The Porta Brace and Kata bags are probably your best bet (and yes, they're pricey).

There are cheaper bags and cases, but they're cheaper :)

Honestly though, any kind of padded bag is fine as long as you don't need to stack bags and you're not too rough with it. I would probably recommend a sturdy pouch/box for storing extra bulbs in the case, though.

There are some excellent, cheap and lightweight cases available from the disco kit suppliers - djs have bars semi-permanently fitted with par cans, and they have fibre or poly cases - usually two part, where one slips over the top of the other, and then has straps to fasten. They also have big zip up bags for the same job and some of these are pretty big and tough.

Myself, I've standardised on proper flight cases as transport isn't a problem, and pretty well all I have is square and strong. If you fancy flight case style - then look for microphone stand cases - some of these are pretty handy and tough.

Something like this is around 15UK Pounds - dirt cheap. It's actually meant for heavy duty loudspeaker stands, but there are plenty of products like this that should work.
