Just wondering if anyone in the know could respond to this question:

When travelling with lighting to a different country is it as simple as changing lamps for that countries voltage

e.g. US 120v to Australia 240v

It depends on the light, some are switchable but for the most part no. Either take lighting or plan on transformers.

Hi tere man is get urself the universal adapter so as not to waste time in changing plugs ! and for tungsten light like the red head most of them the brands like ianiro , arri , quartz colour are usually adaptable coz it's written clearly 110v-240v so just have to purchase a 230v bulb , as for hmi's i advise u to juz bring along a universal ballast it can fit 4 110-230v nu worries my frend! yeah u need not bring so much transformer juz bring 1 or 2 4 ur chargers in case it ain't universal! (p.s remember the higher the voltage the lower the current flows , the lower the voltage the higher the current) earth leakage circuitbreakers will come in handy to u!

For Tungsten, I would be safe and bring 240V globes for your existing fixtures (they make 'em), and mechanical adapter to fit the plugs into the right holes. Those transformers aren't so great under high-current draw applications like powering high-Wattage quartz lights.

To answer your question more directly, yes, it's just that simple (aside from the mechanical plug adapter).
