Please see image capture below. As you can see the girls face is a little underexposed. What I would like to do is apply a mask to this area and lighten her a little on the face side. Whats the best method to do this whilst keeping the rest of the image the same?

This was shot in a cafe with just one hour time limit, half way across Tokyo with no way to drag lighting along.

Help me obeone.. your my only hope. I have adjusted the color timing.

Sorry may as well ask this. Apart from her underexposed face, the image looks fine on my NLE, when outputting to DVD the shot is looking a little too videoish. I did an edit adding some noise using BCC, which looked great on a TV screen but web version looked a little too grainy. Any suggestions? Or just do two versions?

OK so i have played around a bit and found this to give a reasonable result. Look suits mood of everything else. Sorry about 4-5 frames off the original.

Seems like a good compromise between the illumination level of the female character and the background wall between the two of them (though the wall is a little to blown out for my taste). Obviously, the "fix it in post" approach isn't optimal, but given a limited amount of location time, this may have been your only solution.

Is this a locked off shot? Is there a lot of motion on the scene?

You could try pulling a mat on her face in After Effects then CC her face seperately from the rest of the scene. Depending on how long and how much motion, might make for a lot of work. I think one of the things that make the CC's shot look like video is the loss of detail in the highlighs.
