Lighting a White backdrop - 650s or Divas?

I have a regular client that occasionally needs me to shoot interviews against a 9' x 12' white backdrop. I've lit this backdrop with 2 rented Diva 400s and it worked fine. Would 2 Cool Lights 650W fresnels do the trick as well? I basically need an even spread at 100% zebras.
I only own one Diva and don't see the point in buying another $1300 light just to light a background.

Any tips?
Thanks!

If your willing to use tungstens, which it sounds like you are with the 650s, a pair of Lowel Tota-lights would be a good choice for even illumination of the backdrop.

Considering that I already have the 650s, would you think that Totas would be worth buying?

If you have the room to back them away from the white backdrop, to get spread, then they should work OK. Try brushed silk or opal on doors. It might help.
Let us know what you do.

If you already have them, I'd recommend picking up a set of Chimeras for them, would give you much softer lighting.

Didn't realize you already had the 650s. A quick test should tell if their sufficient, though I'd never go into any gig with just enough lights...you always need backups.

Whenever I shoot in this style I always check the evenness of the background by stopping down the lens 2, or 3, stops beyond my working aperture so it appears gray.

Another test is to shut off the key so the subject, or better yet stand-in, is rendered in silhouette, then examine how the white background is kicking back on the subject.
