Greetings everyone!
I've got a new cheap diy project involving a small basement and a weekly video webcast. So I;ve been assigned the task of building a set where one individual will sit at a stool and desk and teach 30-60minute lectures. Basically, it'll look a bit like a local news set but hopefully more mild/trendy/modern/etc. The space has exposed wooden/steel overhead beams, 2x4 studs around a concrete block outer wall and a smooth concrete floor. The total available floor space is about 10ft x 20ft with only about 7 feet of vertical clearance.
I've posted about building the set over here.
Now we've shot some temporary stuff with 3-4 clamp lights and some diffusion and my boss loved it, so considering that fact and that I have an extremely tight budget, I was just going to stick with lighting the set primarily with those clamp lights on diy in-line dimmers. But now I've started to consider using PAR38's such as these. Understand, I realize this is not ideal for this sort of situation but compared to clamp lights with 100w incandescent bulbs, would the par38 cans work at least just as well and maybe even offer better control and permanent mounting convenience? 95% of the time we'll be shooting tight on one person and that's it.
