Light Stands - Air or Spring Cushioned?

I'm doing some searching around for light stands, and see that some are air cushioned while others are spring cushioned. What's the difference in how they work? ...and of course, which is better? Thanks!

Light stands don't need any shock absorber other than a caring person to put them on while being mindful of the fragile and expensive globe they're handling.

Spring cushioned has a spring at the base of the stand. Air cushioned has an air bladder inside at the base. They both have in common that they keep the stand risers from crashing down into the base (along with the load at the top) should you forget and release one of the clamps while the stand does have something attached at top. Its not really a question of which is better although with experience you may personally prefer one or the other. Personally I like air cushioned types, but spring cushioned types are fine.
