Don't make the knob plastic and I'd be a lot more interested. Take a look at the American TVMP's too, they're really top notch.

RyanT, I wish I could find metal handles like that; I will keep on looking. There are these, but they're a little difficult to really tighten down: http://zenstoves.net/Supplies/Fasteners/FlatWing.jpg
I did notice the first link Richard posted uses a basic thumb screw, so maybe that would work.

One thing I should add, the first batch I am working on only work with 5/8". I noticed some of the ones Richard posted can also be used with a junior receiver. I'm working on a way to add this, but don't expect anything soon.

General Specs: Diameter: 1"
Height: 1.5" and 2" (depending on the length of the stud on the light stand you have)
Top Thread: 3/8-16"
Material: Aluminum (If you're interested in steel I can do the next batch with that)

The current batch should be done this Friday. I will post info/photos/tests when finished.

My application is using light stands for microphones. So I use 3/8-20 threaded adapters and then one of these adaptors:

That adapter takes a 3/8-20 stud and provides a 5/8-27 thread which is the North American standard for microphones.
I believe that the 3/8-20 is the European standard.

I have a 5/8-27 tap and a die, and I was thinking about making 5/8 "baby" pin to 5/8-27 mic stand adapters in one piece.
