Light Restoration

I have some very old and very beat up lights and i was wondering how i would go about restoring them so that they look like new.

I'm very good at doing all the electrical work on the lights but i was mainly wondering about the painting and what kind to get and where from.

i have 3 bradwell and mcalister keg lights, a mole rocherdson 407, and a mole richerdson 2k zip

the insides are rusted out and they need a new coat of paint

automotive high heat paint would be a good place to start, available in many colors and able to withstand the heat of exhaust headers so it should do well in this application as well.
thanks

It would be a shame to lose the pink scheme of the Moles though. Contact Mole and ask them how to get some paint to refinish the lights. Good luck, those are nice lights!

There is probably a Mole dealer in your area that can order the spray paint for you. If not, contact Mole they will help.

From the looks of these lights you may want to have them sand blasted by a pro. This would give you a nice new surface to work from. However, before sand blasting be sure to completely disassemble -- remove reflector, electronics. lens and any plastic knobs and synthetic washers.

about the sand blasting do you thing that i would have to blast the inside of the lights also because the inside is really rusted out

I wouldn't think so. The sand blasting is just to give you clean new surface for your new paint. It wouldn't waste the time on the interior. The paint is going to burn off very fast no matter. If you are concerned about the rust on the inside just take a wire brush and clean as good as possible and use an inexpensive high temp (BBQ) paint.
