It there a softbox/umbrella-softbox solution for both photography and videography?

I would like to utilize the spftbox for photography and videography when needed. The umbrella-softbox/softbox need to be able to handle heat, of course!

What are my options?

Thanks!

I was so tempted to write up some fake science about compatibility issues of photo light and video light.

Real answer is: for wedding videography I'd recommend daylight balanced CFLs, and any softbox/umbrella you find for this will work fine for your strobes as well. Heat shouldn't be an issue. The CFLs are inexpensive, lightweight, cool, and mix well with ambient light. (You can also keep 2700k's in your bag in case ambient doesn't mean daylight.)

I've gotten a ton of mileage out of inexpensive softboxes from Amazon. I suspect others here will tell you to pay 10x as much for a softbox 10x softer and boxier, but that's up to you. This is just, like, my opinion man.

I own six different Chimeras and have used them for a couple of decades. They're a great tool. That said, one of my assignments in film school was to make my own soft box using nothing but a razor, foamcore, tracing paper and gaffer tape. Functionally, the light from my $12.00 foam core soft box was the same at $700.00 Chimera. So what that means is that all you are paying $700.00 for is convenience and longevity/build quality. If you are a pro and do this for a living, a Chimera is a worthwhile expenditure. If you are a hobbyist or dabble, the cheap Chinese stuff is probably good enough, you won't see much, if any difference in the light quality.
