Light meter

Hello, I'm a freshmen film major, and I'm looking into buying a light meter, I just want to already be familar with one. I'm not looking to spend too much, but I have found a good selection of used Sekionic meters, and Im especially intrested in the L-508. Any suggestions or advice? thanks!

If you are interested I actually have a Sekonic Studio Delux II L-398M which I don't use anymore. It's in perfect condition (like new) and works perfectly. I used it with an Arri S and a Beaulieu R16. I have sold my Arri S, so I don't really need it anymore ( I sort of forgot about it...). It's very precise and doesn't need batteries.

Hi,

I use a L-508, best value for money IMHO.

so, I realize this is kind of a stupid question. But, when I learn to properly use this, it will help me really achieve the kind of control and look Im looking for in digital video?

I used a Sekonic for all the 16mm stuff I used to shoot...

...haven't so much as picked up a light meter, since starting to shoot mini-dv. Just light by a good q/c field monitor.
