Lighing kit

OK... i know there are many DIY lighting kit threads here..but mine is kinda different as in questions i think. I want to do DIY lighting kit consisting of worklights, china balls, reflectors blah blah. But my question refers to Fluoresent lighting as opposed to the Halogens and tungsten. I went to go check out the halogen worklights but saw they have fluoro ones (i didnt know about these). If they run cooler and save more engery why do people get the halogens? I'd like to know the pros and cons of chosing one over the other. Do the halogens release more powerfl lights (harder) even though the output maybe rated as the same?

Another thing i want to know is where can i go to get like a converter of units with flouresent and tungsten? By looking on some stuff online i see like a CFL 65w is equivalent to 500w tungsten. I;d just want to know so if i decide to go Flouro...then i'd have some idea of what i'm getting.

A good rule of thumb is to multiply the fluorescent wattage by 3 or 4 to find an equivalent incandescent wattage (e.g., 15W CFL = 45 to 60W incandescent).

Halogen lighting provides a perfect CRI rating as far as I know, while most CFL lamps fall well below perfect.
