Has anyone heard of this? I guess it's worth sending a shot to.
A Ridley Scott/ Kevin Macdonald (Last King of Scotland) project.

Everyone shoots July 24, you submit footage, Macdonald finds some documentary narrative thread in it, weaves it all together (or makes a pretty/powerful picture montage?).

What is Life In A Day?
Life In A Day is a historic global experiment to create a user-generated documentary film shot in a single day, by you. On 24 July, you have 24 hours to capture a glimpse of your life on camera.
The most compelling and distinctive footage will be edited into an experimental documentary film, executively produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Kevin Macdonald.

Why contribute to Life In A Day?
Every contributor to Life In A Day will be a part of cinematic history, participating in the largest crowd-sourced film ever made and creating a time capsule to show future generations what it was like to be alive on 24 July 2010.

Some say it's a ripoff of "One Day on Earth," another social-networking project.

"Join us on 10.10.10 for an unprecedented event. Every Nation, 24 hours and You.
Across the planet, documentary filmmakers, students, and inspired citizens will record the human experience over a 24-hour period. By participating in this historic event, you will help capture the diversity of life and culture on this planet. Together we will create a document that is a gift to the world."

It's also similar to a thread we had going here a long time ago. To be clear, the shooting on one day thing was my idea in that one. Hopefully someone manages to do it, since it wasn't us.

Good idea, Cassius! What happened here, it just fizzled out?
When did you try it? Did anyone submit anything? And was it a doc?

Unfortunately, the person who started the thread and this forum ended up having a lot of issues, then it fizzled out. No one felt like taking over on it, including myself, and no decision on what to do was ever finalized. But I thought there was potential there, just in the number of people who responded and the wide range of places they came from.
