Libec tripod: too heavy-duty?

I am looking to buy a libec tripod soon for my HPX170 and was wondering if the bigger models are suited to this smallish camera. I can buy an ls55 for around the same price as the ls38, but the ls55 is rated for cameras 13-22 pounds or so. Will my HPX170 be compatible with this or do I need the smaller ls38? I'm also looking at the ls22 but the main thing that is keeping me from it is the feet look way less secure than the others.

If anyone has some experience with the libec series please let me know how they will be suited for my 4.5 pound camera with about 1.5 pounds of accessories. Thanks much!

sounds like overkill...i have an LS38 for my XHA1...connected to an SGpro so the entire rig is at least 12 lbs. i suppose if you ever plan on expanding your setup, it'll work.

though i cant really compare since its the only tripod i've used, but to me its sturdy. if all you ever plan to mount on it is the bare camera then yeah im pretty confident its not gonna topple over unless you set it up in a really compromising position.

Thanks for your response. Mostly what I am wondering is that if I can get the ls55 for the same price (actually a bit cheaper) as the 38 should I do it? I believe the ls38 would serve my needs fine but I am wondering if investing in the 55 might be better longterm.

Thanks

Is that a serious question?
Would you not take the HPX170 for the price of a HMC150...?
Now, come on...

Sorry I am a bit of a novice in this department having never bought a tripod before. But I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this one as I found a sweet deal on a ls55 for only $600. Thanks to all for the help!
